Cancun; Mexico 2018
The October break 2018 took me to Cancun, Mexico and was one of my favourite places to visit. This holiday is slightly different from my previous posts as it was an all-inclusive package holiday booked through the local travel agents, Barrhead Travel. I travelled with my best friend and stayed for 10 days.

We stayed at the Royalton Riviera Cancun for our 10 day visit and can most definitely say it was luxury from start to finish! Our room was pure comfort with a queen-size bed each, jacuzzi bath and 24/7 room service. All staff were extremely friendly and always made time to greet you with a smile, nothing was an effort to them.

Our accommodation
We were spoiled for choice when it came to food. The Royalton has 9 restaurants ranging from an international buffet to a la carte Italian, Mexican, Steak House, Pub & Grill, French, Tek-Mex, Caribbean, Indian, and Japanese as well as snack bars located around the pool area and 13 bars.

The hotel also offers a luxurious spa. We treated ourselves to a spa package including use of the facilities, a massage and a facial. I would definitely recommend as you’re made to feel so comfortable from the moment you enter.

waterpark, xcaret
Xel-Ha Park
We spent a whole day of holiday at Xel-Ha park; often referred to as Paradise and I can now agree this the perfect way to describe it. It’s an all-inclusive aquatic park, part of the experiencas xcaret group and offers a wide range of water activities, ecological attractions, a variety of restaurants and the most amazing scenery.  We booked our tickets through the official xcaret website and this included an option to add transport to and from our hotel, which turned out be a pretty cool bus! Our day was fantastic from start to finish and we were amazed with the beauty of the place. I can confidently the highlight of the day for both and a tick off our bucket list was swimming with dolphins.  This was closely followed by swimming and snorkelling in the Xel-Ha inlet of the Caribbean Sea among many tropic fish that have made this their home. We also had the opportunity to swim into the Mayan Cave, float down a lazy river in an inflatable and zip line into the water. To get a better view of the park we climbed the lighthouse and took a few moments to appreciate the beautiful scenery and then took a water slide back down to the bottom, finishing off the day relaxing in a hammock till we caught the bus back to the hotel! This is definitely among one of the best days of any holiday I’ve been on and I would highly recommend visiting the park during your trip to Mexico.

xcaret
Xplor Adventure Park
Xplor park is an all-inclusive adventure park within the experiencas xcaret group. It offers six activities to be done at any point throughout the day which challenges how brave you really are. The set-up of the day is much like previously described with Xel-Ha with tickets being pre-booked on the official xcaret website and transportation available to and from your hotel. There is also an option with this park to visit during the day or in the evening. We chose to visit during the day and can proudly say we completed all six activities, making it fun action-packed day. This included the zip-lines which consists of two circuits of seven zip-lines each over more than two miles, which include the tallest in the Riviera Maya reaching 45 meters high as well as a hammock splash which lets you fly in a hammock to spash into a cenote. This was labelled as a one-of-a-kind activity that can only be done at Xplor! (Shame I fell in half way down my first go - lol!). The stalactitie river swim across 400 meters of crystal-clear water in an underground river surrounded by stalactites and stalagmites and offers the company of many bats! Paddling a raft down two rivers of 570 and 530 meters with my friend before a spelunking hike to discover the depths of the planet in caves and caverns that let you explore the incredible place. Again this is must visit if you love a bit of adventure.

I would love to go on holiday to Mexico again as it has endless attractions and places to visits.

  4. Amazing......10 days all inclusive and no mention of alcohol, I would have guessed if you are going on an adventure holiday then a bit of "dutch" courage might have been required. You should share this with Thomas Cook and Xplor Park.
